Guidelines Strokes per hole In order to speed league play, no player is permitted to strike his ball beyond double par plus one stroke per hole. If a player has accumulated double par plus one strokes while on a hole, he is requested to remove his ball from play and record the maximum permitted score for that hole. Example: Par is 3 on the hole being played. Take the listed par from the score sheet and multiply that number by 2 and add 1 stoke, the maximum strokes allowed is a 7. 7 Will be added to the score sheet for that hole. Par 4 maximum is 9 and Par 5 maximum is 11. Out of Bounds Out of Bounds is marked by "White stakes", and normally when a ball is hit out of bounds it cost the player a stroke and distance. However for league play purposes, should a player hit his ball out of bounds, the player will drop a ball not more then one club length from the "line of flight" point the ball went out at, and take a penalty stoke. There is no distance penalty, since this will only slow down play. Please remember to limit the time spent looking for balls, as this also slows down play. Ground Under Repair & Un-natural Hazards There is No penalty stroke taken for moving your ball when it lands in a "Ground Under Repair" area or an "Un-natural Hazard". You will find "Ground Under Repair" areas are marked by "White Chalk" lines. Also trees and shrubs marked with white tape or stakes will be treated as "ground under repair" and the same rules will apply. If your ball lands in a "Ground Under Repair" or an "Un-natural Hazard", you will lift and drop (not place) your ball, either laterally or behind the obstruction. Note: You cannot advance your ball towards the hole, by dropping it in front of the obstruction. Un-natural Hazards are considered as wheel ruts, animal droppings (namely geese in our case), deep un-repaired fairway divots, and un-repaired sand trap pockets. As a golfer, use your good judgment as to what constitutes an un-natural hazard. And always, consult the opposing team for confirmation prior to moving your ball if there is any doubt. Power Cart Courtesy Driving back and forth from one ball to the other and waiting for a player to hit his ball causes a lot of wasted time and slows down the teams behind you. If the weather is good and there are players right behind your team waiting for you to hit, we suggest that after arriving at a player's ball, he should select the clubs he needs, and the second player should take the cart to his ball and continue play. The first player after hitting his ball can return to the cart, this will help speed up play, and keep the "Ranger" off your back. Reminder when playing Par Three's Remember when you are on the green and another team is waiting on the Tee, allow them to hit their tee shots, as this will keep a steady rate of play for all. However if the team on the tee is not ready to hit, continue your play and finish the hole. |
